Hi there! Looking to improve the way you build your houses? Of course you are, jump in and find out how you can Build Smarter using…

MET Homes Wall & Floor System

Standardised. Repeatable. Efficient.

MET Homes system is based around just 13 different pre-designed and factory assembled light gauge steel wall and floor panels.

Configurable to suit the needs of an individual development yet standardised to harnesses the similarities and improve efficiencies in production and on site. Erected in a matter of days, you can be watertight in a week – our panels can accelerate your build, help reduce waste and improve the quality.

Recognising that offsite or modern methods of construction (MMC) is fundamentally about economies of scale, MET Homes adopted a manufacturing led approach which strips out duplication and allows the developer to concentrate on areas where choice adds real value.

It makes sense, right? Rather than starting from first principles every time, our approach lets the manufacture do what they do best and lets the house-builder do what they do best.

The Panels

An insulated, load-bearing light gauge steel frame (LGSF), closed panel solution, designed by MET Homes and manufactured by our approved sub-contractors in the UK.

The Build Process

Supplied as 2D structural walls, upper floors and top storey ceiling cassettes for rapid site assembly by others.

The Variety

Detached, semi detached, end of terrace, mid terrace, 2-2.5-3 storeys, flat roof, front gable, side gable, room in the roof, narrow and long, short and fat. Not endless but close.

As a developer/contractor, what are the advantages of using MET Homes system?

Fast and Accurate

With a typical 2 storey house using around 40 of the MET Homes panels (5 panel A, 6 panel B etc), you can see how a structure can be erected in a matter of days. The sole plates our wall panels slot into run the full length of the wall, this ensures the wall is straight and true and also speeds up the install.

Safer

Our panels are placed into position with the help of a crane; removing the need for heavy manual lifting, this is a much safer way to work. And if you’ve got a crane on site, you might as well use it to do other heavy lifting tasks!

Reduced Design Team Fees

Our panels are what they are, we’ve done the design and manufacturing detail work, so we don’t need to repeat this work for every new order – time and cost savings. We also have Stage 2 GA’s you can use, and every new house designed using the system will be added to our pattern book for you to use.

In short, using MET Homes will reduce your spend on architects and structural engineers.

Less Waste and More Sustainable

Our factory assembled panels are insulated and sheathed on both sides, which means that is something you don’t have to do on-site, speeding up the build and reducing the waste.

There will be less vehicle movements as well with fewer deliveries required and less waste to remove, then you’ve the reduction in labour and how they would’ve got to site etc.

Overall a far less disruptive build for the neighbours and the planet!

Accelerate the Construction Programme

Once our core structure is up, a couple of days, you can be wind and watertight within the week which means both the internal and external follow on trades can get to work at the same time – which can shave weeks off the build programme.

And from a structure perspective, there will be less snags and defects as a result of the precision engineering / tolerances of the factory assembled panels and the fact that steel is a dimensionally stable product – the frame will not warp, expand or shrink.

Fire Safety

Our panels are comprised of non-combustible sheathing boards, non-combustible mineral wool insulation and steel – that is it.
